Alongside the breakthrough for Twitter came the need for a new type of service, the URL shorteners. The best known one to people is probably Bit.ly, which actually is a great service, especially if you register for a free account and get access to tracking your links. The major downside with these shorteners is that you do not know where you will end up, clicking on a link. One way of solving this is to simply create your own URL shortener with a custom URL that your followers can trust.
